Paris-Roubaix 2025: the date with the history of Tadej Pogačar

This Sunday is Paris-Roubaix , and like every year, cycling fans have a date with hell. But this time there's something different. Something that makes this edition even more special: Tadej Pogačar will be making his Roubaix debut. And he's not just here to test. He's here to win .

I'm Javi, founder of Baggicase and a passionate cyclist for as long as I can remember. And like so many others, I've been mulling over the same question for days:
Can Tadej do the impossible?

A runner against history

Pogačar is, without a doubt, one of the most complete runners we've seen in decades. At 26 years old, his track record is simply astonishing:

  • Three Tours de France (2020, 2021 and 2024)

  • A Giro d'Italia (2024)

  • Two Tours of Flanders (2023 and 2025)

  • Four consecutive Il Lombardia (2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024)

  • Two Liège-Bastogne-Liège (2021 and 2024)

His recent victory at the Tour of Flanders, just a week ago, saw him prevail over cobblestone giants such as Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert . A feat few expected and one that further cemented his reputation as an all-rounder.

But Roubaix is not Flanders.

Why Roubaix is another level

There are no walls here, no explosive heights. Just flat terrain, wind, chaos, and 55 kilometers of cobblestones that punish every gram you gain, but also every gram you lose. Tadej will arrive at 63 kg to face off against runners weighing 75 or 80 kg who know how to float on the cobblestones.

Here, a bad line, a puncture, or a crash can wipe you off the map. There's no safety net here.
And here, historically, debutants don't win .

But if anyone can rewrite the rules, it's him.

What if he succeeds?

If Pogačar wins in Roubaix, on his first attempt, he will enter an Olympus where there is only room for names like Merckx .
It would be confirmation that we're seeing something we've never seen before. A complete cyclist, capable of winning where his body and style shouldn't be able to.

And that, for those of us who love this sport, would be something historic . One of those things we'll be talking about twenty years from now.

My bet?

I'm clear about it. I think Tadej wins.
Because sometimes cycling isn't about logic.
Because sometimes cycling is about ambition. About class. About talent.

And crazy people who dare to try it.

This Sunday, while I watch the race with my coffee and my Baggicase, I'll be cheering on the skinny guy in the battle of the giants.

Because if anyone can turn hell into art… it's Pogačar.
